JV Boys Basketball Win KPAC - Undefeated Season

The JV Boys Basketball team accomplished their goal of winning the KPAC tier 2 Basketball title and remain undefeated in league play. The Royals defeated Transcona Collegiate by a score of 69-63 in a close game in which the Royals had to come from behind. Selkirk came out flat in the first half getting into early foul trouble and committing 11 first half turnovers. Transcona managed to control the pace of the game and forced Selkirk to play a slower paced, half-court offense. The Royals trailed by as much as 12 in the fourth quarter before making their comeback. The boys chipped away Transcona's lead with clutch shooting including 3 pointers from both Riley Reckseidler and Eric Thompson. Kyle Adolfson was also stellar in the closing minutes playing tough defense and making a clutch basket to give Selkirk the lead. Top Scorers were Riley Reckseidler (22 pts, 5 rebounds), Travis Fredborg (10 pts, 7 rebounds, 7 steals), and Avery Farquhar (10 pts, 8 rebounds). This marks the end of a successful season for the Royals whose only two loses of the season came from teams ranked in the MHSAA Top Ten. The Royals also won 3 tournaments: The Selkirk Invitational, The Gimli Basketball Tournament, and the Stonewall Invitational Tournament.
