The more I talk to athletes, the more convinced I become that the method of training is relatively unimportant. Track & Field Provincials

The Royals track & field team will be hosting Provincials Thursday, Friday & Saturday this week. Come out to the track and check out the top athletes in the province as they battle it out!

First events start at noon on Thursday.

Baseball Heartbreaker

The boys baseball team had their season come to a close in a heartbreaking extra-inning wildcard game. The team made the trip out to Grunuthal to play the game (only dry field around!) and after struggling to keep up with the home team they managed to climb back from 4 runs down in the final inning to tie the game up and send it to extra innings.

After a pitching duel for 3 innings where there were very few hits allowed, the Royals managed to get a runner on base and were able to advance him home for a one run lead. It wasn't enough however as Grunthal had a few big hits right after that and were able to drive home the winning run after a double was hit up the left field line.

Good work this season guys, we were so close! Thanks to the players who are graduating for three years of dedication to the program.

Varsity Girls lose KPAC semi but came back strong to the finish

The Varsity Girls Basketball team after defeating Maples 83-39 in the qaurter finals on Monday, onWednesday played the #2 team, #6 in the province, Miles Mac Buckeyes.  While the Royals opened up the game with a nervous and uncharacteristic low scoring half and dug a 20 point hole for themselves by halftime, the second half was another story.
In the second half of the game, after quickly dropping to 27 points behind, the Royals rallied to score 58 points in the second half, pulling within 5 with 2 minutes left in the game, only to lose by 8 at the end.  considering the Royals averaged 56 points per game this season, this was a gritty character game, and every point was battled hard for.  While the season ends for the Varisty Girls, they definitely went out in a blaze of glory last night, and we salute those senior players that are moving on, after showing leadership, strong play and good sportsmanship throughout the season:  Holly Goodbrandson, Brandy Fekete, and Ramey Goetz.                                T.
